The first project is a tourist information website for backpackers with a budget. The website uses some custom JQuery including an unusual navigation system which was loosely based on an image carousel. The website includes a Google Custom Search Engine, an e-letter subscript, social media and a full mobile website. The website is setup with affiliate links so, for example, if a visitor clicks through onto Booking.com to book a hostel a commission can then be assigned through Affiliate Window.

This was my first attempt at a Publisher website in regards to affiliate marketing. It uses tracking so if anyone visits the website and then goes on to purchase a bottle or case of wine through one of the merchant websites a commission is then paid. What makes this an attractive model to use is you can sell a product without needing to invest in stock. Having previously worked on a Mercahnt Account in the past it has been a useful learning exercise running a Publisher Account.
